Greetings, ZBimmers!
The 2010 driving season starts on Saturday, April 10. Finally!!! Jeff and Kim Ball are organizing the event and here is Jeff’s description of the drive.
Join the Z clan for a early-spring drive April 10. Get that old gasoline burned out along with the cobwebs in your brain. Join us at Cracker Barrel at I-76 and Route 44 [4367 State Rt 44, Rootstown, 330.325.9970]. Plan to depart from there at 9 AM. (Late Lunch Alert: you might want to eat a big breakfast). We will head up to Burton to the Log Cabin - not a huge place but maple sugar galore (and a restroom break). Then it’s on to hopefully some interesting roads (its pretty flat and straight up there) on the way to Mentor and the Mentor Museum of Speed [7700 Tyler Blvd, Mentor, 440.350.1480]. Most, if not all, of these cars are for sale as well as being on display. Bring your checkbook!! Also bring an extra $10 for the admission fee. If at least 15 ZBimmers want to visit the museum, the price drops to $8. At some time, which I'll make clear on drive day, we'll head off for Caribbean cuisine at Bahama Breeze in Beachwood [3900 Orange Village, 216.896.9081]. The plan is to be there around 2 or so. In keeping with that welcome to the islands/welcome to summer theme, we will have our first ever DRESS CODE! 'Island shirts' will be the cool thing to be seen in this day!! Be cool and join in. ZBIMMER SEA CRUISE. In further keeping with the Island theme. my wonderful wife, son and I have booked a cruise in mid/late August. Since you all have nothing to do since Homecoming went away, that we thought we'd invite you all to join in. The more the merrier! (NO, we're not paying your way). The ship leaves Monday, Aug 16, from Jacksonville, FL for a 5 day trip to Key West and Nassau. Prices are pretty good since it’s a 5-day and the weekends are available for travel. You also get an early bird discount booking in April. Just like Homecoming, do whatever you want with whomever you want. (FRED behave!) I will commit to calling Carnival and try to get us all seated together for (late) dinner but I have to know you are going in order to do that, so you can't surprise me and just show up. The details are on a link here. If you don't see it, refresh the home page and it should show up at the bottom.
Here's the standard boilerplate for the Season Opener. Please join us for the entire trip or just the part that's convenient for you. Bring along all the Z's that you can find. Dress appropriately for the temperature because we drive regardless of weather. Don't forget sunscreen and sun glasses if it's bright. Have a full tank of gas to start the drive. Bring your Talkabouts tuned to channel 7,5. Be sure the camera has batteries or film. Remember your tank of gas donation for Make A Wish. Contributions now total $21,328! Do visit zbimmers.org for information and history of our adventures.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again and driving some more miles together after the long winter.
Jeff, Kim and Cindy
FYI, Cindy's M roadster found a great home with Jason from Canada. The hardtop and snows are still available if you're interested. |
