Greeeting,
ZBimmers!
‘Tis
the
season
for
pumpkin
running!
The
leaves
are
turning
color,
there
is
no
humidity
and
the
sky
is a
brilliant
blue.
It’s
the
perfect
backdrop
to
run
pumpkins!
Dave
and
Pam
Fisher
have
organized
a
first-rate
outing
on
Saturday,
October
10,
so
please
consider
this
your
official
invitation
for
the
11th
Annual
Pumpkin
Run!
Here’s
how
Dave
describes
the
day:
11th
Annual
Pumpkin
Run
2009
Custer
Clark (Gable)
Coal
Curves (of course)
Cassidy (Hopalong)
Cabernet
We
start
at 9:45 a.m. from Gulliver's
Travel
Plaza
just
south
of
Canton.
Take
Exit
101
off
I-77
and
go
east
(2320
Faircrest
Street, Canton,
330.484.8400). From
there
we
wind
our
way
to
the
southeast
on
carefully
selected
roads.
Some
have
been
traversed
very
recently;
some are remotely
familiar
or
"traditional”; and
some
are
new
to
most
of
us.
Many are
in
the
category
of
Our
Personal
Favorites. The
total
drive
will
be
about
180
miles, broken
into three segments
with quick
stops
in
Cadiz
and
near
Belmont.
There
is
no
formal
lunch
stop
because
dinner
is
scheduled
for
4:00
p.m.
but
there
will
be
opportunity
for
some
junk
food
at
both stops.
Part
One
- we
follow
some
very choice
and familiar routes
including 800,
212,
164
and
9 to
Cadiz with
a
brief
stop
to stretch
at
about
11:30 a.m.
You
have
a
choice
of
either
Wendy's
or
McDonald's
because
they
just
happen
to
be
across
the
street
from
each
other.
Part
Two
-
from
Cadiz
we
head south
on
Rt 9,
cross
the
National
Road
at
St. Clairsville, and
drop
down
almost
to
the
river
at
Bellaire.
Then
it’s
a
less-than-straight
climb out
of
the
valley
to another
brief stop at
a
combination
McDonald's/Truck
Stop near
Belmont
at
about
2:00 p.m.
Part Three
- after
a
quick
run
on
I-70
(sorry)
we
are
back
on Rt 800
headed
north,
eventually
reaching Rt
258
(initially
introduced
by
Bill
Bingle
and
my
personal
favorite)
heading
west
to
Newcomerstown.
After
a
brief
ride
on
Rt
36,
we
arrive
at
the
end
of
the
run
at
The
Raven's
Glenn
Winery
(56183
CR
143,
West
Lafayette,
740.545.1000).
Time
permitting
before
dinner,
you
might
be able
to
enjoy
a
quick
"tasting"
of a
flight
of
reds
or
whites
at a
very
reasonable
price.
The
Pumpkin
Run
group
dinner
is
scheduled
for
4:00
p.m.
in
an
outside
pavilion
on
the
banks
of
the
Tuscarawas
River.
When
necessary,
the
sides
of
the
pavilion
drop
down
and
the
heaters
come
on.
Here's
the
standard
boilerplate
for the
11th
Annual
Pumpkin
Run.
Please
join
us
for
the
entire
trip
or
just
the
part
that's
convenient
for
you.
Bring
along
all
the
Zs
that
you
can
find.
Dress
appropriately
for
the
temperature
because
we
drive
regardless
of
weather.
Don't
forget
sunscreen
and
sun
glasses
if
it's
bright.
Have
a
full
tank
of
gas
to
start
the
drive.
Bring
your
Talkabouts

to
channel

sure
the

has

together.
The
Pumpkin
Run
is
the
last
driving
event
of
the
2009
season
and
one
you
definitely
don’t
want
to

See
you
on
the
10th!
