WhirlyBall/Lazer-Sport

Saturday, March 19

Cleveland, OH

Get ready to launch with 2005 driving season with a Whirly Ball Challenge followed by an Italian group dinner on Saturday, March 19.  John and Natalie Black have planned a rather unique adventure for our first event but have remained true to our Drive and Eat philosophy.  We'll just spend some of our driving time on the whirly ball court!  In case you're not familiar with whirly ball, check out their site WhirlyBall/Laser-Sport (Cleveland, OH).

Meet in the empty lot on the Northwest corner of Rockside and Canal Road and plan for an 10:45 am departure.  There’s a sign that says “BUILD TO SUIT” right there.  Rockside Road (Independence) should be easy to access from 77, not far from the 77/480 interchange.  If people want to stop for breakfast/potty before arriving at the departure point, there is a Denny’s on Rockside, by I-77 and a McDonalds down a bit further on Rockside toward the departure point, at the corner of Brecksville and Rockside Roads.

There will be a short drive (but very pretty if the sun is shining!) to get us to Whirly Ball.  The address is 5055 Richmond Road, Bedford and the phone is 216.591.0707.  The court belongs to the Zs from 12 to 1 and the $140 cost will be divided among the players. We need a minimum of 8 players and can play 4 games with 2 teams of either 4 or 5 players in the one hour.  If you're joining the group at Whirly Ball, plan to arrive about 11:45 to participate in the 'training video', payment and completion of the release forms.

Following the Whirly Ball Challenge, the group dinner will be at 1:30 pm at Buca di Beppo.  Their address is 1541 Golden Gate Plaza/Mayfield Road, Mayfield Heights and their phone is 440.995.5550.  This really is a group dinner with everything at Buca served family-style (remember we're all related anyway!) and the portions are huge.  As Natalie says, sharing is always a great idea there and is half the fun =).  Do remember to bring some cash to pitch in for the costs for Whirly Ball and dinner.

Please RSVP back to me by Thursday if you plan to dine with the Zs at Buca de Beppa.  We want to be sure our 'family' table has enough seating.
